RIETFONTEIN 250
DISCOVERING TOMORROW'S
CRITICAL MINERALS
Rietfontein 250 represents SACO Mining's commitment to responsible mineral exploration in South Africa's Northern Cape. Through systematic geological investigations, scientific analysis, and modern exploration techniques, we are working to better understand the area's mineral potential while protecting the surrounding environment and creating lasting value for future generations.
Great discoveries are built one drill hole, one sample, and one insight at a time.

EXPLORING ONE OF SOUTH AFRICA'S
PROMISING GEOLOGICAL REGIONS
Rietfontein 250 is an early-stage exploration project focused on evaluating the potential occurrence of critical minerals that support the technologies of tomorrow. Our exploration programme combines geological mapping, geophysical interpretation, scientific sampling, and diamond drilling to build a comprehensive understanding of the subsurface geology.
Every exploration activity contributes valuable geological knowledge that guides future work, reduces uncertainty, and supports informed decision-making. While exploration is still underway, the project reflects SACO Mining's long-term commitment to responsible resource development.

WHY RIETFONTEIN MATTERS

Strategic Geological Setting
Located within one of South Africa’s most prospective geological regions, Rietfontein offers favourable conditions for critical mineral exploration. Regional geological trends indicate strong potential that warrants detailed scientific investigation.

Critical Minerals
Rare earth elements are essential for renewable energy, electric vehicles, advanced electronics, defence technologies, and modern manufacturing. Identifying new domestic sources contributes to long-term resource security and economic growth.

Scientific Exploration
Our exploration programme follows internationally recognised geological practices. Field observations, sampling, laboratory analysis, and drilling data are used to build a reliable understanding of the mineral system.

Long-Term Opportunity
Although still in the exploration phase, the knowledge gained today forms the foundation for future development. This creates opportunities for local investment, employment, and sustainable economic growth.
Every metre drilled brings us closer to understanding the potential beneath the surface.

OUR EXPLORATION JOURNEY
A SYSTEMATIC
APPROACH TO DISCOVERY
Rather than relying on assumptions, our exploration programme follows a structured process that gradually builds geological confidence. Every stage generates new information that guides the next phase of exploration and supports informed technical decision-making.

1. Geological Research
Regional geological studies, historical exploration records, satellite imagery and publicly available datasets are reviewed to understand the geological setting and identify prospective target areas.

3. Geological Mapping
Detailed field mapping records rock types, structural features, lithology, alteration zones and visible mineralisation, creating the geological framework for drilling.

5. Core Logging & Sampling
Geologists carefully examine and log every section of drill core, documenting rock types, mineralisation, structural features, alteration and geological characteristics before sampling.

7. Resource Evaluation
All geological, drilling and laboratory data are integrated to build geological models, estimate mineral potential and support future exploration planning.

2. Target Identification
Geologists analyse geological structures, alteration patterns and historic datasets to prioritise the most promising exploration targets for field investigation.

4. Diamond Drilling
Diamond drilling retrieves continuous core samples from beneath the surface, providing an accurate record of the subsurface geology and potential mineralisation.

6. Laboratory Analysis
Selected core samples are sent to accredited laboratories for geochemical and mineralogical analysis to determine mineral composition, grade and the presence of critical minerals.

8. Future Planning
Results are reviewed to determine the next phase of work, which may include additional drilling, expanded exploration programmes, resource definition or advancement toward future project development.

RESPONSIBLE EXPLORATION
EXPLORING RESPONSIBILY
Responsible exploration is fundamental to everything we do.
Our exploration activities are carefully planned to minimise environmental disturbance while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and scientific integrity.
We are committed to:

Environmental Stewardship
We plan and manage exploration carefully to protect the land and minimise environmental impact.

Community
Partnership
We engage openly with local communities to build trust and create shared value.

Safety &
Governance
The safety of our people comes first, supported by strong ethics and full compliance.

Responsible
Growth
We advance Kalkfontein with a long-term focus on people, planet, and lasting value.

LOOKING AHEAD
ADVANCING KNOWLEDGE
CREATING OPPORTUNITY
Exploration is only the beginning.
Every geological survey, drill hole, and laboratory result strengthens our understanding of Rietfontein and moves the project one step closer to unlocking its long-term potential.
As exploration progresses, SACO Mining remains committed to scientific excellence, responsible environmental practices, and creating lasting value for South Africa.
