Diamond Drilling Programme Underway at Rietfontein

SACO Mining is pleased to announce the commencement of diamond drilling at Farm Rietfontein 250, located in the Namaqualand District of South Africa's Northern Cape Province. This marks a significant milestone in the Company's exploration programme and represents the transition from preliminary geological investigations into active field exploration.
The drilling campaign forms part of SACO Mining's long-term strategy to responsibly evaluate the mineral potential of its exploration assets while building a comprehensive geological understanding of the project area.
About the Drilling Programme
The current programme consists of seven strategically positioned diamond drill holes designed to investigate the geological continuity of identified exploration targets and improve the understanding of subsurface mineralisation.
Diamond drilling allows geologists to recover continuous rock core samples from below the surface, providing valuable information about rock types, geological structures and mineralisation that cannot be observed through surface mapping alone.
Every metre of recovered core contributes to developing a more detailed geological model of the project and assists the technical team in planning future exploration activities.
Exploration Activities in the Field
Field operations officially commenced on 20 July 2026 and are being completed under recognised exploration practices with JORC-aligned field procedures. Throughout the programme, experienced geologists are overseeing all drilling activities, geological logging, sample collection and quality assurance processes.
Each drill hole is carefully documented to ensure that geological observations and analytical results are accurately recorded, providing reliable data for future interpretation and evaluation.
Early Geological Observations
The first drill holes have successfully intersected sheared pegmatitic gneiss together with zones showing hydrothermal alteration. These observations are considered encouraging as they support the current geological interpretation and provide additional information about the structural characteristics of the exploration target.
As exploration continues, the geological team will integrate drilling information with mapping, sampling and historical geological data to build a more complete understanding of the project.
It is important to note that these observations represent ongoing exploration work and do not constitute a declared mineral resource.
What Happens to the Drill Core?
Once recovered from the drill hole, each core sample follows a structured evaluation process before laboratory analysis.
Geological Logging
Every section of drill core is photographed, measured and logged by geologists, who record important information such as:
Rock types
Geological structures
Mineral alteration
Visible mineralisation
Vein characteristics
Core recovery and quality
Sampling
Selected intervals are marked and carefully sampled before being transported to an accredited laboratory for detailed geochemical analysis.
These laboratory results help determine the concentration of elements present within the rock and contribute to the ongoing evaluation of the project's mineral potential.
